SMALL FISHING FISHES IN SCIENCE SUPPORT

The daily life of fishermen is difficult, sometimes dangerous, but always interesting. Every day, from 4 to 5 in the morning, until late at night, they come out with their boats and hope for good catch. Sometimes in their networks are not only fish but also crabs, different in size and appearance. Last week, a fisherman from Varna caught a huge cancer in his net – a crab, the shell is about 20-25 cm, and when he unfolds his strong and strong tongs, the cancer is already over 50 cm.

The enormous crab was passed on to Docent Elitsa Petrova – Pavlova Ph.D, Director of the Institute of Fish Resources, Varna. There they will assess the species of this „midget“  and its life in the Black Sea.
